I love the structure of Marathon Training! I'm so much better when I know exactly what I am doing.
Another week passes and this week we had to adapt a couple of days and fit our training around our real life but doesn't everyone from time to time! As ever we have the best start to our running week...
Monday: a rest day 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Tuesday: Today's session was an interval session, the challenge with training in the countryside, especially at this time of year, is the darkness. So we chose to travel to Shrewsbury for Intervals in the dark, we parked up at the railway station and used the run to the Quarry as part of our warm-up. We then completed 5 x 3 minutes at 102% with a recovery of 90 seconds in between. ONce our intervals were complete we headed back to the car as part of our cool down Overall we ran 6.60 miles, an overall average of 10 min miles.
Wednesday: Today was another rest day so I completed a 20-minute strength session with madfit, I tend to just choose one of her many youtube videos for sessions like these.
Thursday: Is another run day and we are both at work today so we had running lunches instead. I had a meeting booked or 1300 so I left the office just after 1030 and completed an easy 60 minutes. I ran from the Railway Station out of town, along the link road and then back down onto the river. It was a lovely sunny morning and it was nice to get out of the office for an hour.
Friday: Today was a double run day....OR maybe you could say it was a single run split into two, take your pick! We both completed work and then headed out the door completing a 15-minute warm-up, then 4 x 30-second strides with a 15 minute cool down. We then stopped our watches and then started them again...this time completing a 35-minute easy run. Overall we covered just over 6.5 miles and we have caught up with the plan again!
Saturday: Today was a rest day, We did do a little strength work and we continue to do our daily yoga.
Sunday: Our final run of the week and it was over the panorama, it was a beautiful morning for a run. We headed over in the morning and decided to head up and over towards the horseshoe pass route, we intended to head out for 1hr 15 mins and then turn round. We headed out a little longer as we knew the return would be downhill and would be quicker... We also stopped along the top so I could have cuddles with a lovely dog running with her owner!!
As I've mentioned the morning was stunning and there were many walkers out and about along with other runners and mountain bikers too! Apart from a few techy issues with my Stryd, the run was going perfectly until we were in the last mile back to the car. We were on the downhill running at a pretty good pace and I went flying, kicking a rock and sliding face-first along the muddy path...🤕🩹 Fortunately, nothing was broken and apart from a lot of blood and some bruising, all was fine! After a brief moment lying on the floor, I caught my breath and we continued down the hill at a comfortable pace to the car! That brings this week's training to an end and another steady increase in the distance!
